Fife showcases expertise and pioneering projects at All-Energy 2017

Fife is gearing up to attend All-Energy, the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference, taking place at Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, 10 – 11 May 2017. Fife Council is set to showcase the region’s strengths as a place to invest as well as its expertise in renewable energy technology, manufacturing and supply chain. Fife Council Economic Development Team’s Market Development Programme is supporting 13 Fife organisations to visit Glasgow. The event offers an excellent opportunity for local businesses to showcase Fife’s particular excellence in engineering, manufacturing and service delivery.

 

Perth College UHI’s WEEE Centre to host ‘Culture of Consumerism’ event

Perth College UHI’s WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Centre recycles, repairs and reuses IT and office equipment and mobile phones, with and for the benefit of students. On 19 May they are hosting an event bringing together students, professionals and interested parties in the fields of sustainability, technology and the arts for a day of culture and thought provoking discussion around the topic: The Culture of Consumerism.

 

South Ayrshire celebrates Earth Hour

Hundreds of people took part in events across South Ayrshire recently to celebrate Earth Hour. The Council worked with Ayr Central to bring entertainment with an environmental twist to the town. Locals and visitors learned about everything from recycling and real nappies through to protecting wildlife. Over 100 people gathered at Belleisle Park to enjoy a sunny afternoon planting wild flowers with Council rangers, listening to sustainable stories and making seed bombs to take home.

 

SEStran nominated for awards at Scottish Transport Awards and Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) Awards

SEStran have been nominated in the following categories for the Scottish Transport Awards 2017: Accessibility Project of the Year for the SEStran Thistle Assistance Card and App, Excellence in Technology and Innovation for work developing ‘X-Route: Co-designing active travel’ and Excellence in Travel Information & Marketing with their real-time passenger information system bustrackerSEStran. SEStran has also been nominated for the CIHT/DfT Inclusive Transportation Award for the SEStran Thistle Assistance Card at the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) Awards 2017.
