Transforming plastic waste into snazzy jewellery

Kinning Park Complex launch accessory and clothing line created from waste and unwanted items

Kinning Park Complex launches its own accessory and clothing line, KPCouturé at the The KPC Rummage on Saturday 25th November from 12pm - 4pm.

As Part of their Waste Not Want project, Kinning Park Complex are re-purposing plastic from food and drinks packaging into earrings and buttons. Waste Not Want is funded through the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund with a grant of £133,080 which includes a maximum contribution of £47,371 from the European Regional Development Fund.

Project staff are keen to encourage others to get involved in the making process by learning how to mould plastic to make new products or by taking part in sewing workshops. Donated textiles are also being used to make t-shirts, oven gloves and tote bags.

You can watch a video of the plastic mould in action below.

The KPC Rummage takes place at Kinning Park Complex, 43 Cornwall Street, G41 1BA, Glasgow on Saturday 25th November from 12pm - 4pm.

If you would like further information about the event, or the Waste Not Want Not project, you can contact staff by email.
