Themed Gatherings a highlight
Looking back at 2017, the Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) Themed Gatherings proved to be one of the highlights of the year, with some fantastic feedback from participants. The Gatherings took place in July and August 2017 and once again proved extremely popular, with all of the events fully booked. We are very pleased to confirm that the Themed Gatherings will return in 2018.
In addition to providing attendees with the opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities for Scotland’s communities to reduce their carbon emissions, the events helped to inform new guidance that we are producing to help CCF Grant Recipients deliver the most effective carbon reduction projects.
The events also included practical sessions, with repair and upcycling at the Remakery, a led bike ride around Callender park, a visit to see CCF funded energy efficiency improvements at St Michael’s Church in Linlithgow and a tour of CCF funded growing activity at Lamnacha Hub.
As well as the formal structure of each day, attendees valued opportunities to network and share learning with like-minded delegates from other community-led organisations.
We thank our hosting venues (Remakery in Edinburgh) transport (Callendar House, Falkirk), energy efficiency (Burgh Halls, Linlithgow) and food (Lamancha Hub). We also thank our speakers for sharing their knowledge and attendees for their valuable input.
We organised the events through our management of the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund. The events formed part of the Capacity Building Programme which offers community-led organisations free training, resources and networking opportunities to increase their capacity to take action on climate change.
Forthcoming CCF events in the New Year include surgeries to help current CCF Grant Recipients produce a strong Final Report and Carbon Literacy training in Shetland. You can book to attend the events via the events section of the CCF website.
