Living Active & Going Green film night focuses on food waste

Climate Challenge Fund project organise free film night on 25 November as part of European Week for Waste Reduction

'Living Active & Going Green' is a project funded through the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund, run by Andalus. You are invited to their free film night where you can learn more about food waste. The evening on 25 November includes a showing of the film 'Just Eat It' and has been organised in partnership with Take One Action Film Festivals.

The event has also been registered as part of European Week for Waste Reduction (19 - 27 November 2016), which is Europe’s annual week aiming to get everyone thinking about how to reduce the amount we throw away in our daily lives.

The Andalus Living Active and Going Green Project in the West End of Glasgow is working to help the local community to reduce home energy use, grow more local produce and travel more sustainably. The community can take advantage of  home energy efficiency advice, new community growing space and an eco-cafe. Cycling workshops are being run in tandem with an urban cycling club while the movie club is showcasing environmental films.

It's not to late to register your action with Zero Waste Scotland so they can count it as an official action for the week, provide you with extra support and put you forward for a European Week for Waste Reduction award. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Barcelona next year! If you have any questions, do get in touch with Zero Waste Scotland at

As part of the European Week for Waste Reduction we are challenging all of our employees to use their own mugs when they buy their coffee/tea/soup from the food vans that come around our business park, rather than a single use cup. We'll keep you posted on our progress. You can read more about all activities registered for European Week for Waste Reduction via the map on the Zero Waste Scotland website.
