Harvesting event at Peebles CAN Community Garden

All are welcome to attend a harvesting event at the community garden on Saturday 29th July.

All are welcome to attend a harvesting event at the Peebles CAN Community Garden on Saturday 29th July. Come along to see how much all the lovingly cared for vegetables in the garden have grown - and take some home for dinner!

The event takes place at Peebles CAN Community Garden (the garden behind Victoria Park Centre, on Kingsmeddow Road, Peebles) from 10am-11am on Saturday 29th July. You can find out more via the Grow Cook Build Own Facebook Page.

The Grow Cook Build Own project was awarded a grant of £90,425 from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund and commenced activities in April 2017.

The project has organised a number of successful events with over 75 members of the local community attending an Open Garden morning, which offered the chance to sign up for a raised bed at the garden and cooking workshops to help minimize food waste.

Amy Alcorn, project manager for the Grow Cook Build Own project said:

“Our open garden morning was a great day out for the local community with information on the new project and how to become involved.

“We hope that the local community will enjoy learning how growing their own vegetables can help tackle climate change as well as benefiting their heath and saving money”
