Edinburgh event set to inspire sustainable travel
The Scottish Government recently lodged an amendment to the Climate Change Bill to set a legally binding target of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045.
Transport remains Scotland's largest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions, so positive action is needed by everyone to help the move to more sustainable travel.
The Transport Gathering on 7 August will explore what net-zero emissions means with relation to transport and the role Scotland's communities can play in helping us get there. The event will bring together community-led organisations from Scotland who are working to reduce carbon emissions in their area by helping people to reduce their reliance on the car and travel by foot, bike or public transport instead. It will also bring together those groups that are encouraging people to switch from petrol/diesel to an electric vehicle.
An extended networking lunch break will feature a led cycle ride and walk, organised through the Climate Challenge Fund activities of SCOREscotland.
The 2018 event was hosted by Soulriders in Glasgow and we're pleased to share a short film with some of the learning from the day.
The Climate Challenge Fund Transport Gathering will take place 7 August at WHALE Arts, Edinburgh. The event is FREE to attend for Scottish-based community groups interested in tackling climate change.
