Climate Challenge Fund deadlines approaching

Applicants encouraged to check deadlines and submit their Expression of Interest in good time.

Potential applicants to the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) are encouraged to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) as far as possible in advance of the appropriate deadline. This will allow the maximum time possible for those that submit an eligible EOI to develop a strong application.

EOI deadlines are:

  • Existing CCF Grant Recipients who have funding for 2018/19 only - 20 July 2018 (by 5pm).
  • Community-led organisations not currently in receipt of a CCF Grant - 3 August 2018 (by 5pm).

EOI's are assessed in chronological order by CCF Development Officers, so the earlier an EOI is submitted, the sooner a Development Officer will be able to get in touch and provide feedback and support. This will also help to avoid a large spike of EOI's on each of the deadline days.

There has been a high level of interest in the latest round of CCF funding since it was announced by Cabinet Secretary for the Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform, Roseanna Cunningham, at a visit to current CCF recipient Leith Community Crops in Pots.

David Gunn, Climate Challenge Fund Manager at Keep Scotland Beautiful said:

"Applicants that want to hear feedback on the eligibility of their funding bid as soon as possible are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest well before the appropriate deadline.

We expect this round of the Climate Challenge Fund to be very competitive so this is another reason to allow as much time as possible to develop a strong application.

Climate change impacts all of us and we need collective action to tackle it, so we look forward to supporting many community-led organisations with their Climate Challenge Fund applications and see this as part of our work to help make Scotland clean, green and sustainable."

For those wanting further information on applying to the CCF, the final three CCF Information Surgeries take place this week in Dumfries (18th) , Dundee (19th) and Kilmarnock (20th). Spaces are filling up fast so early booking is advised.

All potential applicants should refer to the CCF website for further information regarding CCF criteria, eligibility, deadlines and how to apply.
