Guidigo and Explore Maryhill’s Canal
The Guidigo app acts as a tour guide around the area, combining audio clips with historic images to tell the story of how Maryhill was born with the coming of the canal.
The walk starts at Maryhill Burgh Halls where you will find out more about their famous stained glass windows. Wander down to the Kelvin to see the visible remains of the papermill and onto the aqueduct which carries the canal across the river. Heading up the canal locks you will learn about the role the canal played in the Second World War before returning to the Burgh Halls.
The Guidigo app is free to download and Maryhill’s Canal walk can be loaded during Glasgow Doors Open Day Festival 14 - 20 September https://www.glasgowdoorsopendays.org.uk/
