The search for the UK's favourite green space is on
The People’s Choice vote is now open to find the top 10 favourite Green Flag Award winning green spaces in the UK and 85 of Scotland’s green spaces are in with a chance of featuring.
Voting is open until 31 October with the top 10 winners announced on 15 November at a virtual awards ceremony hosted by the UK national operators; Keep Britain Tidy, Keep Wales Tidy, Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, and Keep Scotland Beautiful. To vote for your favourite, simply find it on the map at www.greenflagaward.org and click on the vote button.
There are so many different spaces to choose from this year with a record 85 green spaces achieving the Green Flag Award in Scotland. There are community growing spaces and gardens, traditional Victorian style parks steeped in history, castle grounds, giant sculptures, and even a windfarm! A full list of award winners can be found on our Awarded Parks page.
Last year, two Scottish sites were featured in the UK top 10; Eoropie Park in Isle of Lewis for the first time and Strathaven Park in South Lanarkshire for the sixth year running.
Jamie Ormiston, our Beaches and Parks Officer said, “Parks staff and volunteers have been up against it this year with more people using their green spaces, long periods of extreme hot weather, and the long recovery from covid lockdowns, and yet they still manage to keep these vital spaces looking their best all year long.
“The Green Flag Award was the first step to celebrate their achievements but through the People’s Choice Award, the public have the opportunity to say thank you through their vote.”
