Applications for Community Climate Action Plan programme now open

With COP26 just around the corner, we’re delighted to be opening the application process for our Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP) programme, where we will support several communities to develop their own unique plan to address the climate emergency.

The programme will involve a set of workshops with community members, empowering them to find opportunities for climate action in all areas of community life.  We’re inviting any climate-minded groups or individuals willing to bring people together within their community to express their interest in taking part by completing our brief application process.

This programme expands on the success of a Scottish Government-funded pilot project in 2020, where Keep Scotland Beautiful supported two communities in Tayvallich and Kirriemuir to develop their own Community Climate Action Plans. We thank these engaged and passionate groups for their inspiring work and look forward to seeing both communities go from strength to strength as they continue to deliver on their Community Climate Action Plans.

Representatives from both communities will be taking part in an online Q&A session on Wednesday 3 November from 19:00 – 20:00 to give anyone interested in applying the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the project. If you’d like to join the session, please email aisling.brady@keepscotlandbeautiful.org for details.

Each successful community will be supported by our Community Climate Officer to create their own detailed plan for action on the climate crisis from the short to long term.  Through a range of workshops, Keep Scotland Beautiful will support the groups to begin their actions, signpost them to sources of further advice and funding relevant to their plan, and help them evaluate their impact.

Keep Scotland Beautiful is proud to be one of the core organisations supporting The Scottish Government’s COP26 community engagement programme over the coming weeks and months, helping to facilitate climate conversations and impactful action in a diverse range of communities across the country.

Details of the application process can be found here. The deadline for applications is 17:00 Friday 12 November 2021.
