Outdoor learning must be at heart of opening schools
Already embedded through Learning for Sustainability in the Scottish Curriculum, GTCS Standards, Inspection criteria and Rights of the Child, outdoor learning is well evidenced as contributing to raising attainment and achieving many education priorities.
The National Network for Outdoor Learning, of which we are a new strategic partner, is composed of organisations and individuals across Scotland, that can readily provide practical advice, resourcing and training for teachers, early learning and childcare professionals. All are organising learning with COVID-19 restrictions in place and have a deep knowledge of how to best implement the outdoor learning and play tools at this time.
We are pleased to be part of the Network, and to support a call to the Scottish Government and local authorities to focus on using #outdoorlearning and #outdoorplay as a tool to get our educators and young people back to site.
