Support to help make your community greener

A handy new support pack for community groups interested in making their communities greener is available now. Community groups with ideas for initiatives involving energy will find the pack particularly useful.

The pack features information outlining Scottish Government support for communities available through Local Energy Scotland, Resource Efficient Scotland, Home Energy Scotland and the Climate Challenge Fund.

The information pack includes details of:

  • The Community and Renewable Energy Scheme, administered by Local Energy Scotland, which helps groups plan, develop and fund local energy projects;
  • Funding, energy audits and energy usage reduction for communal buildings, supported by Resource Efficient Scotland;
  • Free and impartial consumer advice on how householders can stay warm and access funding for home energy improvements, from Home Energy Scotland;
  • The Climate Challenge Fund, administered by Keep Scotland Beautiful, which funds and supports community groups for projects to tackle climate change;
  • A case study of Gate Church in Dundee who benefitted through funding and support from all four organisations.

Faith Pashley, Communities Officer a Home Energy Scotland was on hand at the Climate Challenge Fund Gathering to explain more about the information pack and the support available to communities.

The packs are free and available in digital or physical form by emailing ccfenquiries@keepscotlandbeautiful.org
