Scotland's contribution to Let's Clean Up Europe

The fourth edition of Let's Clean Up Europe (LCUE), the European campaign against littering, is taking place across Europe and beyond. Over 4,600 Clean Ups have been registered across 21 European countries. With more than 500,000 participants, Let's Clean Up Europe has once again proved a great success.

Scotland's contribution to the totals were impressive.  At the point that figures were collated, 23,854 participants were registered with us across March and June.

The 2017 edition of Let’s Clean Up Europe includes events taking place throughout the whole spring period from 1st March to 30th June.  However, in honor of Europe day celebrated on 9th May, the central weekend for European Clean Up Day actions was from 12th May to 14th May.  More than 50% of the registered events took place during this weekend.

The European Clean Up day is a campaign on waste prevention coordinated by the Life+ project European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) since 2014, which aims not only to clean territories, rivers or beaches from litter, but also to call on concrete action introducing waste prevention and reduction in our everyday lives.

If you're inspired by this, you can organise your own event with Clean Up Scotland here.
