Greggs come on board to support the national Spring Clean and help clean up Scotland

We are delighted to announce that Greggs have come on board as supporters for our national Spring Clean for the sixth year alongside principle partners Scotmid Cooperative

Over April and May we will be encouraging communities, schools and businesses across Scotland to take action to clean up our country.

With levels of litter, fly-tipping and environmental degradation at their highest levels since records began, it has never been more important for us to raise awareness and stimulate action to stop our throw away behaviours. Across Scotland, thousands of people will take time out of busy lives to come together to take action. We are aiming to involve over 50,000 people which will make it one of the largest voluntary efforts for a Clean Up that we have ever had. This year our principle partner is Scotmid Cooperative and as part of their support 12 stores will become community hubs to support groups and individuals with their Clean Up events.

Last year as part of their support, Greggs delivered over 12,000 treats for over 200 events across Scotland to our litter pickers. This year all events organised through the Clean Up Scotland campaign are eligible for a voucher to spend in a local Greggs shop.

Roger Whiteside, Chief Executive at Greggs, said:

“We love that our customers care about the environment, and so do we - that’s why we’re committed to doing all we can to protect it and tackle the growing issue of litter.

“Social responsibility forms the bedrock of our business and to this end, we have rigorous targets in place, ensuring we carefully manage any environmental impact from our operations. We’re proud of our longstanding partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful and look forward to really bolstering all of our efforts in this area through this year’s Clean Up Scotland campaign.”
