The judges are coming

Our volunteer Beautiful Scotland judges are just about to embark on their tours across Scotland.

Over the next few weeks, 45 entrants, from Brighten up Kirkconnel in Dumfries and Galloway to Dufftown in Bloom in Moray, will be visited by a pair of judges and assessed for their year round work under the three pillars of horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community particiption.

The judges will meet back at our offices on Wednesday 16 August to decide on the winners - 13 category awards, 11 discretionary awards, and one premier award - the rosebowl. The winners will be announced at the Award Ceremony, which this year is being hosted by Fife Council on the 7 September at the Glen Pavilion in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline.

Juliette Camburn, Community Projects Officer at Keep Scotland Beautiul who co-ordinates the Beautiful Scotland campaign, said: "We're privileged to have volunteers who dedicate their time to judge, and we'd like to wish them, and the entrants, all the best for their judging tours. No matter what the weather does, the groups have worked tirelessly throughout this year to make their communities brighter, cleaner and more sustainable places to live, work and visit, and we look forward to celebrating this with them all on the 7 September in Dunfermline."
