UK review of progress towards the Global Goals published

The UK’s first Voluntary National Review (VNR) taking stock of progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals has been published.

The report sets out how government, business, civil society and the public across the UK are making the Goals a reality and outlines the challenges that remain to reach these ambitious targets by 2030. The UK will present these findings to the United Nations later this month.

Scotland’s SDG Network set up a working group in late 2018 to support the development of Scotland’s contribution to the VNR, a process that we have been involved with since the inception of the group. Alongside supporting the development of the VRN, the group have been working alongside the Scottish Government to develop the Scottish supplementary review document, which will support the information contained within the VNR, providing greater depth of information about Scotland's contribution to the Goals. The supplementary review is due for publication by the Scottish Government early this month.

We welcome the publication of the VNR and are delighted to see our work feature in the report, with references made to Eco-School Scotland, Climate Ready Classrooms and our Cup Movement in Glasgow, highlighting the valuable contribution that a range of our activities make to delivering against the ambitions of the Sustainable Development Goals.
