Thank you to all our volunteers

1 - 7 June is Volunteer Week, and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of our volunteers for their hard work to help keep Scotland beautiful.

Volunteers play a vital role in the work of our charity. We are lucky enough to have people from across Scotland working hard to make Scotland clean, green and sustainable.

Here is just a small snapshot of some of the great work going on:

  • During Spring Clean this year over 40,000 people volunteered to clean up their local communities, removing a staggering amount of litter
  • Each year, volunteers working on our Beautiful Scotland and It's Your Neighbourhood campaigns give over 250,000 hours of time to improve their local environment
  • Volunteer judges assess many beaches and parks for us as part of our Beach Award and Green Flag for Parks Award.

This Volunteer Week, we'd like to thank each and every person who has given their time to keeping Scotland beautiful.

"I'm really glad I volunteer... I have been privileged to meet some wonderful, hardworking people aspiring to make their gardens and environments the best the could with the resouces they had available. I hope I am able to encourage, advise and give feedback just as I had received when our street went through the assessment. There are so many people out there giving their time, finding the enthusiasm and enhancing the community. It's quite refreshing to think this is going on throughout the year not just on assessment day."

Sarah Turnbull, volunteer It's Your Neighbourhood Assessor.
