New canal-based, natural heritage projects

Following discussions with Scottish Waterways Trust, which has unfortunately ceased to operate, from 1st May 2019, we are delighted to be carrying forward some of their innovative canal-based projects which will form part of a new natural heritage programme. These projects, including canal college® and Canal Heritage, focus on engaging communities with Scotland’s canals whilst protecting and enhancing a key part of Scotland’s cultural, environmental and industrial heritage.

Derek Robertson, Chief Executive of Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting these natural heritage and canal-based projects which are making a real difference to communities – building life skills, connecting people with their natural environment and conserving our rich heritage.

“Through our current range of activities, we aim to make Scotland clean, green and sustainable, and these projects are a welcome addition to our charity’s work.”
