National pharmacy donates bag charge to support our work

National pharmacy chain, Well, has donated in excess of £2,000 to us from the proceeds of its carrier bag sales in Scotland throughout 2016.

Well's donation of £2,258 will help us to change behaviour and improve the quality of people's lives and places throughout Scotland.

David Hamilton, Commercial Director at Well, said: “It’s an honour to partner with Keep Scotland Beautiful and donate this significant sum of money, which will be used to campaign, protect and restore the Scottish countryside.

“Reducing environmental impact has always been high on our agenda and so we’re delighted that the profits from carrier bag sales are able to go towards such a good cause.”

The charitable partnership follows the introduction of the carrier bag levy, which came into effect in October 2015, with the charge helping to tackle environmental factors, reduce waste and overuse.

Catherine Gee, our Corporate Sales Director, said: “We were delighted to receive a donation from Well Pharmacy from the proceeds of its customers’ 5p bag charge.

“We will be able to use the donation to support our work to help communities take action to make Scotland become cleaner, greener and more sustainable.  As our activities are estimated to make a difference to one in five people living in Scotland, we hope that Well customers will experience the benefits in the places they care for.”
