Gold award for SP Energy Networks

The Kilmarnock depot of SP Energy Networks has gained the gold accreditation in our National Award for Environmental Excellence®.

The accolade recognises SP Energy Networks (SPEN) and its employees continued commitment to sustainable business practices - making sure that the depot is safe, clean and welcoming.

The award highlights how SPEN has aligned its business activities with UN Sustainable Development Goals and their ongoing commitment to reuse and recycle items before disposal. The company’s community initiatives have also been recognised, from raising awareness of safety with overhead lines to STEM engagement with local schools.

Angus Campbell, SPEN District General Manager for Ayrshire, said: “We are delighted that our Kilmarnock depot has received this prestigious gold standard award. We are passionate about sustainable business practices and this award recognises the hard work of our whole team in maintaining these high standards.”

To celebrate, SPEN welcomed our Operations Director Pete Leonard to the depot, where he presented the award.

Pete Leonard, our Operations Director, said: “Keep Scotland Beautiful is working closely with businesses and organisations across Scotland, helping them to take direct action to address local environmental impact. The Environmental Excellence Awards provide an exciting opportunity to assess and recognise their efforts.

“We are delighted with the achievements of SP Energy Networks at Kilmarnock. Their continued commitment to improving their sustainability should be commended.”

National Award for Environmental Excellence® is open to companies and organisations throughout Scotland and acts as a benchmark for corporate environmental performance.

Throughout Scotland, over 130 business locations, from shopping centres, leisure and cultural trusts to train stations and ports, have been audited for a National Award for Environmental Excellence®.
