Forge Shopping Centre achieves gold

Premier shopping destination, the Forge Shopping Centre, Glasgow, has secured its second gold environmental award.

As only the second organisation in the whole of Scotland to be accredited twice with the National Award for Environmental Excellence®, and the first with two gold levels, this acknowledges The Forge’s continuing commitment to improving environmental quality.

The accolade recognises the Centre’s achievements in continuing to deliver exceptional environmental standards. The Forge was praised for bringing forward realistic waste reduction targets and its wider community participation - from encouraging its customers to become more environmentally aware to participating in local fundraising activities - ensuring that the Centre remains at the heart of Glasgow’s East End community.

Paul Wishart, Centre Manager commented: “This is a fantastic achievement for us. The Forge is the only shopping centre in Scotland to receive this award twice.

“We are committed to continually improving our environmental performance and reducing our environmental impact. This accolade helps to recognise the team’s hard work to ensure that we provide high standards across the board.

“I would like to thank our customers, retailers and suppliers their continued support.”

Carole Noble, our Operations Director said: “Keep Scotland Beautiful is working closely with businesses and organisations all across Scotland – to help them take direct action to address environmental issues. The Award for Environmental Excellence® provides an opportunity to audit and reward their efforts.

“We are delighted with the commitment demonstrated by The Forge to improving environmental performance. It is important that organisations accept their environmental responsibilities and that we recognise and celebrate their efforts.”
