Scotland litter picks 45,000 miles

So far, as part of our Clean Up Scotland Summer Clean, volunteers across Scotland have pledged over 45,000 miles

Without volunteer litter pickers many parts of Scotland wouldn't be as beautiful, so we'd like to thank you all for supporting our Summer Clean so far.

Across the UK we have completed our #MillionMileMission, but don't let that stop you from taking action. You can still pledge your time for the rest of the month so that we capture all the actions taken to clean up Scotland. We can then use this to encourage people to help us keep communities clean and tidy over the summer holidays.

Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport Michael Matheson said:

“Taking part in this year’s Summer Clean is a great way to help keep your local parks, beaches and neighbourhoods free of litter. The pandemic has shown how important our outdoor spaces are to people's health and wellbeing. To make sure everyone can enjoy them, please get involved if you can, and put any rubbish you see in the bin, recycling it where possible.”

Join us for the final push and pledge your time to help us clean up Scotland.

Have you already litter picked? Why not remind those out enjoying your hard work to leave no trace by downloading the Scotland is Stunning campaign toolkit. Visit www.managingourwaste.scot/litter for more information.
