Our Cup Movement® message hits the streets of Glasgow
This week we are launching the first wave of our campaign on the streets of Glasgow to introduce our Cup Movement and raise awareness about the campaign. This is an ongoing opportunity provided by Jack Arts so our campaign presence will continue to grow over the summer – and beyond!
In a statement of support, Jack Arts said:
“Single-use cups are a serious problem which is why we’re delighted to be supporting Keep Scotland Beautiful to raise awareness around Cup Movement. It’s absolutely crucial that we all do our bit to help the environment - everyone has a role to play. Using our poster sites, our aim is to get this message out onto the streets of Glasgow to encourage reuse and recycling to help tackle such an important issue.”
Campaign billboards around the city will be raising awareness of the issues surrounding cup waste and encouraging the uptake of more sustainable behaviours, such as choosing a reusable cup and recycling where possible.
Cup Movement was launched in Glasgow to stop single-use cups going to landfill by transforming the recycling infrastructure and encouraging reuse. Currently, of the 478 million single-use cups used in Scotland, only 4% are recycled. The campaign aims to bring together everyone involved in a city-wide collaboration to encourage behaviour change. We need to start reducing cup waste by reusing, recycling and ultimately, ensuring no cup gets littered.
Our Chief Executive said:
“The generous support provided by Jack Arts to our Cup Movement will really help us get our message out. We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with Jack Arts as we believe this will provide the attention our Cup Movement requires. Let’s reduce cup waste!”
So far, on our Cup Movement journey we have been busy developing the campaign, building up our membership and launching the cup recycling service - exciting announcements will follow!
