We welcome a new Charity Chair
We are delighted to confirm the appointment of a new Chair of Keep Scotland Beautiful. Tom Brock OBE, a long standing supporter and Trustee of the charity, was appointed by the board earlier this month.
Tom has extensive experience in tourism, sustainability and regeneration. He studied Zoology at Aberdeen and Glasgow Universities and was a Countryside Ranger before working for British Waterways for 15 years, promoting, managing and developing canals throughout the UK for leisure, tourism and regeneration. He was Chief Executive of the award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre for 20 years and Chair of the Tourism Environment Forum.
Following his appointment Tom said, "I want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the work of my predecessor Lindsay Montgomery CBE, and to thank him for his outstanding service to Keep Scotland Beautiful over the last six years. With the increasing interest, awareness and concern about the environment, we have an excellent opportunity to increase our work in benefiting the environment and communities right across Scotland, playing an important role in Scotland’s green recovery. I am very much looking forward to working with our team, as well as those we support and work in partnership with across the country, to help achieve this.”
Our CEO Barry commented, “I’d like to congratulate Tom on his appointment at this challenging and exciting time for our charity. Tom, who temporarily stepped down from the board in 2019 to act as Interim Chief Executive, is a passionate advocate for what we do, and I have no doubt, will be a real asset to us as we all work towards a green recovery from Covid.”
