We say farewell to our Chair of six years

Lindsay Montgomery CBE, FRSE has stood down from his role as a Charity Trustee and Chair of the Board of Charity Trustees. His decision to stand down is due to a period of ill health.

Lindsay joined our board in 2013 and has led the Charity Trustees as Chairman since November 2015.  During this time, he has brought a wealth of experience from a wide range of senior roles he holds in public service.

Lindsay believed strongly that the work that we do matters now more than ever.  Commenting on his decision to stand down from the Board of KSB he said “Combatting climate change, improving places where people live and work and reducing litter and waste are at the forefront of the thinking of national and local government and our private sector is recognising the steps that they need to take to make their contribution to Scotland’s ambition around net zero.  The work that we do is impactful and makes a difference to lives of people and their communities right across the country. I have been honoured to have been a Charity Trustee and Chair of the Board of Charity Trustees of an organisation with such a wonderful group of able and committed people.”

Our CEO reflected on his departure, and commented, “Lindsay has been a dedicated Chair and Charity Trustee for almost eight years, and we are committed to develop and strengthen his ambition as we continue to work hard to support communities, public bodies and businesses to combat climate change, tackle litter and protect and enhance the places we love across Scotland. We will miss his steadfast leadership and wish him the very best for the future.”

Lindsay retired as the Chief Executive of the Scottish Legal Aid Board in August 2015 and was previously a Director of Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH). Until this year he was Chair of OSCR having previously been a Board member and then Deputy Chair. His other roles recent or current roles include Chair of Community Justice Scotland , Chair of the Central Government Digital Transformation Board and Vice Chair of the International Legal Aid Group.
