Aberdeen residents join up support #SpringClean19

We are delighted to support Aberdeen City Council’s launch of its campaign Clean Up Aberdeen 2019. Every year, the council have helped to clear mess from its streets, parks, shorelines and areas of natural beauty in the city and surrounding area through its Clean Up Aberdeen initiative.

Aberdeen City Council spends over £4 million on clearing litter from Aberdeen’s streets and open spaces.

Clean Up Aberdeen is Aberdeen’s campaign to involve everyone living, working and visiting in action against litter and mess.

This year’s campaign will be fronted by a number of enthusiastic schools undertaking a range of litter focussed challenges and events.

On top of organising Clean Up events, the campaign is challenging people to reach out to businesses, local councillors, MSPs – even the First Minister!

Volunteers are also invited to contact local and national media outlets to get the campaign heard, create a School Litter Action Plan through community engagement and reflect on their own practices in the light of sustainability.

As a regular entrant to our Beautiful Scotland initiative, in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society, we are delighted to support the council’s work and hope to see lots of events registered during our own Scotland-wide Spring Clean 19.

A clean environment is great for both residents and visitors and if we all work together we can make a difference. Clean Ups are great fun and quickly transform an area.

You can join in by organising your own Clean Up of your local community. Get together with friends and family, work colleagues or your community group and make a difference.

Aberdeen City Council, Environmental Services can lend you litter picking tongs, high viz vests, gloves and black bags and will uplift the collected rubbish. All you have to do is pick and bag the litter. For more details, or to get help organising an event call 03000 200 292, or email cleanaberdeen@aberdeencity.gov.uk
