Carbon Literacy Training Organisation status renewal approved

14 February 2025

We're delighted to announce that our application to renew our Carbon Literacy Training Organisation status has been approved for 2025 by the Carbon Literacy Project.

We have been involved in delivering Carbon Literacy since 2016 and two years later we became the first Scottish Carbon Literacy Training Organisation.

Since then we have achieved Platinum status and trained more than 5,500 people to gain their Carbon Literacy certification.

Through our Climate Ready Classrooms programme, we have delivered training to 2,526 students and over 280 teachers since 2018.

Since 2019, we have been delighted to deliver this course in 125 schools (in-person, online, or trained a teacher) in 30 local authority areas.

We're also proud to have 98% of #TeamKSB certified as Carbon Literate as well as three of our Trustees. We encourage and support all staff to join Carbon Literacy training and provide regular scheduled opportunities for them to participate.

Katie Murray, our Development Manager, Environment and Place Services, said: "I'm delighted to see our renewal application approved as we continue our work to support Scotland's net zero journey.

"We aim to lead by example as an environmental charity and encourage others to get involved. By having our status as a Platinum organisation renewed, we can continue to offer reputable and respected training to those who are interested in understanding the climate emergency and how they can get involved.

"We've trained almost 6,000 people and we look forward to increasing that number in the future. We have a number of excellent, experienced trainers leading our brilliant courses and I encourage everyone who is interested in positive climate action to get in touch and take part."

We currently offer a wide range of Climate Emergency Training, including courses for individuals, introductory sessions, more than 10 bespoke sector-based courses and much more.
