Zero Food Waste Challenge now online

24 September 2024

An online version of the in-person Zero Waste Food Challenge workshops makes it even easier for households to reduce food waste across the Highlands.

The challenge shows the impact we can all have by making small changes at home and how these can benefit the environment, save us money and help us to make healthier choices at the same time.

It builds on the Zero Waste Kitchen Challenge developed by MOO Food in the Black Isle, and expanded by Transition Black Isle, a partner of the  Highland Community Waste Partnership.

The online challenge is broken down into the following stages of the food waste journey:

  • Planning
  • Shopping
  • Storing
  • Preparing
  • Consuming
  • Composting

Each short video will take you through the topic and suggest small changes you could try in your own household to make a difference.

You can also download the PDF’s on each topic too for more tips, tricks & recipes.

Before you make any changes, we suggest taking a note of how much money you usually spend on your food shopping per week as well as how much food waste you usually put into your bin per week.  This is so you can see for yourself how much of an impact you are making along the way!

Visit the Zero Waste Food Challenge webpage for more information and start reducing your food waste.
