Community Reference Group reconvene
05 September 2024
We brought members of the Community Reference Group together online today to reflect on the success of key outcomes which were delivered as part of Scotland’s Litter and Flytipping Strategy Year 1 Action Plan, and to discuss actions for the second year.
Established to support our work to deliver the 2023/24 Action Plan, the Community Reference Group includes members from community groups and local authorities all working hard to tackle the litter emergency. It will support further work as we move forward to deliver the 2024/25 Action Plan.
Heather McLaughlin, our Campaigns and Social Innovation Manager, said: “It was great to bring the group back together today after a successful first year delivering actions as part of the National Litter and Flytipping Strategy. We’re building on the success of the Community Litter Hub, launched earlier this year to support people to understand more about litter and where to find resources and support to help them take action, the education programme which has now been piloted and will be rolled out further during 2024. We also shared some of the reports pulled together using data collected by people volunteering for us across Scotland last year.
“It is heartening that so many people who supported our work last year and keen to build on this and contribute their knowledge, expertise and commitment to ensure that we build upon and deliver further action to address the interlinked climate, nature and litter emergencies. We look forward to working with the Community Reference Group and thank them for their support.”
We are committed to collaborating with partners to drive implementation of the Strategy Action plan in an effort to make Scotland clean, green and sustainable.
