South Lanarkshire park wins People's Choice Award
21 November 2024
South Lanarkshire’s Strathaven Park has once again been named in the Green Flag Award’s top 10 People’s Choice.
The park’s success was announced at the annual Best of the Best Green Flag Award Ceremony on 14 November.
It is the tenth year in a row that the people who value the park have voted for Strathaven Park to be recognised. Out of 2,227 Green Flag Award winning parks and open spaces across the UK, it is a true reflection of the community’s connection to Strathaven Park that they were placed in the top 10 once again.
We present Green Flag Awards to Scottish green spaces under license from Keep Britain Tidy. It supports park managers and communities to manage and improve green and open spaces and makes an annual award – the Green Flag - to Scottish parks and green spaces that demonstrate excellent management and environmental standards.
Jamie Ormiston, our Training and Accreditation Coordinator, said: “It is wonderful to see Strathaven Park once again get the national recognition it deserves.
“The park is one of many fantastic and inspiring projects going on across the country to improve access to Scotland’s green spaces and adapt to the climate, nature and litter emergencies.
“We know how beneficial being outside and in nature is for people’s mental and physical wellbeing and it’s wonderful to see this special Scottish park recognised on a wider scale.”
The Green Flag Award recognizes the best parks and green spaces across the country. This year 80 green spaces across Scotland received an award. Applications for 2025 open on 2 December. Find out more
