Celebrating and growing horticultural and community success

A number of inspiring people and groups who we have the pleasure of working with were recognised at an awards ceremony hosted by the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society (the Caley) on 19 March 2024.

Following the 215th Annual General Meeting of The Caley at The Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh the Society’s Awards Ceremony took place.

We inspire, support and celebrate more than 250 groups across Scotland through our Climate and Nature Friendly Communities Network.  A number of groups and individuals who play an active part in our network were recognised at The Caley awards ceremony.

These included:

Certificate of Merit

 Horticultural Group Award

Student Certificate of Merit

Juliette Camburn, our Senior Community Initiatives Officer, was confirmed as a new Council Member (Trustee) of The Caley at this meeting.  She works closely with many of the award winners and commented, “It is wonderful to see so many groups and individuals that we work with receive further recognition for their invaluable contribution to improving communities for nature, people and the planet.

“I’m honoured to have been invited to join the Caley Council and look forward to learning more about the work of this wonderful organisation and sharing my experiences with those we work with as we work towards a more climate and nature friendly Scotland.”

Lewis Normand, President of the Caley said, “The awards presented by the Caley at our ceremony this week recognise some of the very best individuals and groups working hard to use horticulture to help communities bloom too.

“We’ve developed close links with Keep Scotland Beautiful over the years as we’ve collaborated to ensure individuals and groups can access support and advice.  So, we are pleased that Juliette has agreed to become a Caley Council Member.  Her experience working with communities, in event and project management and general enthusiasm will be very welcome.”
