Starting term with training and new systems
01 September 2023
Our education team have had a busy start to the new school year!
Training for all our education programmes has begun again, with Introduction to Climate Action Schools and Welcome to Eco-Schools sessions proving particularly popular.
Our full training schedule for the Autumn and Winter terms is now available. And we are delighted to offer all our training and pupil support sessions for free.
We have also been delighted to launch a refreshed Eco-School Application System this week following a year of development and testing which concluded over the school summer holidays. The Eco-Schools Online Application System allows schools to apply for a Green Flag Award. It makes navigation easier across the platform, and for the first time allows pupils to contribute to a Green Flag Award application for their school. It is also now possible to complete the Environmental Review section of an application online, furthering our efforts to make the Green Flag Award process as sustainable as possible.
Eco-Schools is the largest sustainable schools programme in the world and is one of five programmes operated internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and delivered by Keep Scotland Beautiful in Scotland.
Completing a Green Flag Application is recognised by the Green Flag Award - a visible indication of a school's commitment to Learning for Sustainability and an internationally recognised accreditation for excellence in sustainable education.
We are grateful for the continued support of the Scottish Government as we deliver Eco-Schools Scotland.
Climate Action Schools is our framework of education initiatives to support Scotland’s educators, young people and children to progress Learning for Sustainability and climate change education.
