Beautiful Scotland groups celebrate success at Britain in Bloom finals

Four of our Beautiful Scotland groups have been recognised at the annual Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Britain in Bloom Finals.

Held at The Lindley Hall in London on Monday 23 October, Britain in Bloom celebrates the groups across the UK making positive changes to their local environment through horticultural, environmental and community action.

Kinnesswood in Bloom was joint winner of the Village category and were also selected as the winner of the Discretionary Award for Children and Young People’s Participation.

Aberdeen Communities Together won the City category and also received a Certificate of Achievement for the Horticultural Excellence Award.

East Haven Together were joint winners of the Coastal category alongside Lytham in Bloom.

Bonnie Blantyre, UK finalists for the first time, received a Silver Gilt in the Large Town category.

There was further celebrations for our Scottish representatives as Bonnie Blantyre’s Dr Susan Lindner-Kelly, East Haven Together’s Jack Reid and Anne and Ian Bancroft, and Kinnesswood in Bloom’s John Nicol were all recognised with a RHS Community Champion award.

Juliette Camburn, our Senior Officer, Community Initiatives, said: “We are delighted that our four Beautiful Scotland groups have been recognised at the 2023 RHS Britain in Bloom finals.

“This is a wonderful achievement and presents another opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the volunteers who make a significant contribution towards helping to improve their local environment, halt biodiversity loss and protect and enhance nature.

“I’d also like to congratulate all the recipients of the Community Champion awards, it is so thoroughly deserved for your efforts.

“We love their commitment to keeping their part of Scotland beautiful and would like to thank them for all they do. Their efforts are appreciated by everyone.”

Beautiful Scotland, which we run in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society, brings communities together to help clean up and beautify the places that matter to them. It recognises the efforts of volunteers across Scotland as they work to enhance their own community, creating more sustainable neighbourhoods for people, places and wildlife.
