Promoting refill and reuse in Lochaber

17 November 2023

Partners from the Highland Community Waste Partnership (HCWP) attended the Lochaber Chamber of Commerce - 'Around Lochaber in 80 Tables' event on Wednesday 15 November at The Nevis Centre, Fort William.

The Chamber’s speed networking event for businesses was a great way for HCWP to engage with local businesses to promote waste reduction initiatives.

Lesley from Lochaber Environmental Group (LEG) and Brenna from Highland Good Food Partnership (HGFP), along with Ellie Campbell, HCWP Project Officer, attended the event to raise awareness of the impact of single use packaging and promote the Refill App and the opportunity to take part in a new cup recycling pilot.

Lesley Hawkins, HCWP Project Officer for LEG, said: "It was lots of fun with lots of great connections and some fantastic suggestions and ideas shared.  Speed networking definitely needs you to be focussed and use your active listening skills whilst being concise with your own message too."

We would love members of the public to download the Refill App and use it to find out where they can get packaging free shopping, drinks, lunch on the go etc. We would encourage everyone to think about their consumption habits and choose to re-use.

Check out our Choose to Reuse and Try Refill pages to find out more. It’s good for your purse and good for the planet too.

If you’re a business and you are providing goods that are packaging free, or where your customers can bring their own containers, please add your business onto the Refill App. Imagine us being able to share with locals and tourists alike, the variety and options for them to be able to #ChooseToReuse on the go in Lochaber and beyond.

Find out more on our Try Refill page and get your business added to our Zero-Waste shopping options too.

Lastly, we'd like everyone to spread the word about reuse and refill option with family, friends and colleagues. Let’s make the Highlands a place that promotes conscious consumption.
