Highland Good Food Partnership promotes Food Waste Toolkit for Businesses

09 February 2023

Highland Good Food Partnership, of the Highland Community Waste Partnership, along with Zero Waste Scotland, attended the Visit Inverness Loch Ness members engagement event to showcase what support is available to businesses to lower their food waste.

50 Hospitality and Tourism businesses attended the event in Inverness to discuss all things tourism in the area and look at ways to enable hospitality businesses to thrive while showcasing the best the region has to offer.

Gerry Boyle from Zero Waste Scotland delivered a presentation highlighting the amount (and staggering cost) of food waste produced in the Scottish Hospitality sector.

Our Highland Community Waste Partnership Officer Reina, from the Highland Good Food Partnership promoted the free digital “One Month Food Waste Challenge” toolkit and businesses were encouraged to contact Reina and Lesley, our Highland Community Waste Project Officer from Lochaber Environment Group, for any support and advice. Follow-on support from Zero Waste Scotland was also discussed, where Zero Waste Scotland can conduct a free audit to help businesses with the more complex aspects of waste.

If you are a business in the Highlands and want to learn how you can save money by reducing your food waste and help out the climate get in touch Reina at reina@highlandgoodfood.scot who can talk you through the toolkit and provide some 1-2-1 support if needed. A waste audit from the Zero Waste Scotland team can also be arranged.
