Free Climate Emergency Training for people who live or work in Falkirk

We are offering free Climate Emergency Training for people who live or work in the Falkirk Council area, until the end of June .
We're delivering the Climate Emergency Training as part of a project with Falkirk Council and Green Action Trust, called Falkirk Canal Connections. The project has received £720,120 from the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund. It is one of 477 projects supported by the UK Community Renewal Fund that were announced by the UK Government on 3 November 2021.
Working with Falkirk Council and Green Action Trust, we have developed the bespoke online workshops to help people who live or work in Falkirk develop skills and knowledge to help tackle the climate emergency.
Over two live online sessions, this introductory training will raise understanding of climate change science and how people living or working in Falkirk can use their actions and influence to respond to the climate emergency and contribute to Scotland’s journey to net zero. Local examples from across the Falkirk Council area will be highlighted in relation to the new challenges and opportunities of net zero for communities, businesses and individuals.
The course is accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project. To become Carbon Literate, participants will carry out an assessment in which they will be asked to select both an individual and a group action to reduce carbon emissions at their organisation, or within their community, demonstrating their learning and understanding of carbon emission sources and solutions. Those who pass will receive Carbon Literate certification.

In May 2019, the Scottish Government declared a climate emergency and has pledged to drastically reduce emissions from Scotland. This will mean new legislation and technology that will bring significant changes to the way that we do life and business in Scotland.
And with the United Nations COP26 climate conference having recently taken place in Glasgow, attention is focused on climate action in Scotland and sustainability in businesses like never before.
Climate Emergency Training is a key part of Falkirk Council’s ambition to help communities, businesses and individuals to become Carbon Literate.
Representatives of community groups, business and individuals are eligible to attend the training providing they live or work in the Falkirk Council area.
