Welcoming Green Key International to Scotland
10 June 2022
This week we welcomed Finn Bolding, International Green Key Director, to Glasgow for a visit to our first Green Key awarded hotel, Radisson RED Glasgow.
Public concern over the environment and climate is growing and consumers increasingly consider environmental performance when choosing hospitality venues. Gaining a Green Key award demonstrates sustainability credentials, gives a comQ help save money by improving efficiency.
To ensure a similar standard across countries and share best practice, Green Key International carry out control visits to countries with national operators like ourselves. Our control visit included a visual inspection of the Radisson RED hotel, using an adapted version of the audit form following Green Key criteria. It looked at areas such as energy, water and waste as well as the progress the hotel has made. We were also delighted to hear about planned environmental projects.
We also discussed with Finn Bolding the opportunities for Green Key in Scotland, best practice and how we can support applicants from a wide range of sectors and sizes to become certified.
We are currently working with VisitScotland to give tourism businesses the chance to join Green Key at a discount of £500, applied to their first year of membership. The funding is available for ten micro, small and SME businesses until March 2023, on a first come first served basis.
Green Key is the leading global eco-label operating in 60 countries worldwide to support and recognise environmental excellence in hotels, restaurants and venues. It is owned by the Foundation for Environmental Education, and we are the national operators in Scotland.
Our thanks go to Radisson RED Glasgow for hosting us again.
