15 August 2022
*Our ‘Source2Sea’ week of action will be postponed until October.
As part of our Upstream Battle campaign, during Source2Sea week there will be lots of opportunities to get involved with tackling the problem of marine litter, through events and activities.
Upstream Battle is Keep Scotland Beautiful’s award-winning marine litter campaign. With 80% of marine litter coming from land, the campaign looks to tackle this problem from source.
The ‘Source2Sea’ week of action aims to raise awareness on litter’s pathway and gather support to prevent litter reaching our seas and waterways.
We want to encourage everyone to take action to prevent litter ending up in the sea. There are several ways you can do this:
- Organise a litter pick or litter survey in your local area. There is advice and guidance on how to organise a clean up and complete a survey on our website.
- Join events taking place near to the River Clyde and River Tay. Details of them can be found here.
- Raise awareness among your online community. Download and share the Source2Sea social media templates using #Source2Sea and #UpstreamBattle. Follow @KSBScotland social media accounts where a daily action.
- Get involved with your school or family. Download the marine litter kids activity sheet and the river walk scavenger hunt and watch the 'Source2Sea and me' educational video.
You can find more information on all these activities at the Source2Sea webpage.
