Dear World Leaders

04 November 2021

Throughout the two weeks of COP26 we are amplifying the voices of young people from across Scotland, showcasing their messages to world leaders on our social media channels. The messages were sent to us as part of our Dear World Leaders project where we invited pupils of all ages to address delegates at COP26, describing what they hoped the planet would be like when they became adults.

The project was launched during Climate Week and entries poured in. These have been collated together in a ‘Dear World Leaders’ film featuring a song written and performed by Megan Farr, an S4 pupil at St Andrew’s and St Bride’s High School. Megan was inspired to write her song as she feels strongly that the impact of climate change is real and a crisis that simply can't wait. This sense of urgency shines through many of the powerful messages, demonstrating how much these young people care about our environment and the effects of climate change.

The pictures, photographs, poems, and letters will also be presented to Scottish ministers as a book featuring a forward from our Chief Executive.

‘What is clear, from the information gathered in this book, is that Scotland’s young people, when armed with knowledge about the climate crisis, are committed to taking positive action. There is hope.’
