Carbon Literacy Action Day - Our Activities

01 November 2021

As we enter the first week of the COP26 UN climate change negotiations in Glasgow we are proud to be taking part in Carbon Literacy Action Day (1st November), a day of climate action training on a huge scale.

Our contribution includes delivering several courses across the day, including for Scottish Veterans Residences, and Climate Ready Classroom Train the Trainer sessions, accredited by award-winning Carbon Literacy Project.

As Scotland strives to reach its net-zero target by 2045 carbon reduction has never been more urgent and it is clear that all of us as individuals, organisations and communities need to take action. Our Climate Emergency Training helps people to understand the impact of climate change and what meaningful action they can take in tackling it.

Today, delegates including staff at Scottish Veterans Residences, as well as teachers participating in our Climate Ready Classroom programme, will be taking their first steps to joining almost 3,000 people across Scotland that we have supported to achieve Carbon Literacy certification.

We have been developing, delivering and overseeing Carbon Literacy training in Scotland since 2016, and are currently the only organisation in Scotland to hold Gold Carbon Literate Organisation status. We offer accredited training for a range of audiences including businesses and organisations, communities, schools and youthworkers.

Our Climate Emergency Training Coordinator, Aoife Hutton, said: "As the official partner of the Carbon Literacy Project in Scotland, we are delighted to support Carbon Literacy Action Day, to celebrate the huge success and reach of this training in Scotland and beyond.

"To respond to the climate crisis, we need as many people as possible to understand the emergency and to champion action in communities and workplaces. With COP26 upon us, it is more important than ever to collaborate to catalyse climate action to keep within 1.5 degree C."

By joining one of our courses, you will gain knowledge and tools to help in carbon reduction, tackle climate change and support Scotland’s goal of reaching net-zero.
