Showcasing our groups at Go Live! at the Green

We joined My Parks Scotland and Greenspace Scotland at the #greenspacehub for two days over the European Championships.

Glasgow Green, one of our Green Flag Awarded parks, was one of the hotspots during the Glasgow 2018 European Championships. The site brought together sport, culture and entertainment with a daily programme of free activities for families.

We were delighted to join My Parks Scotland and greenspace scotland at the #GreenspaceHub. We were one of a range of other organisations to showcase Scotland’s wonderful parks and greenspaces, and the activities you can enjoy in them. Whilst there, we promoted our pocket gardens and Clean Up Scotland programmes amongst our other activities and projects. Over the ten days the site brought in many visitors looking to enjoy the activities and sports and we were lucky enough to have a  busy spot to demonstrate some of the work we do.

Along with us we invited two of our community groups to join us to showcase some of the wonderful work they carry out. Friends of Southern Necropolis, one of our new It's your Neighbourhood groups, brought along their Dracula and invited people to join them for their regular slot for tours of the cemetery.

We also had one of our Beautiful Scotland groups, Uddingston Pride who had a cress head making workshop. It was estimated that over the two hours they were there they helped families make almost 150 cress heads.

It was great to have our groups join us at this event. The groups both enjoyed engaging with visitors and will hopefully get more interest in their activities locally.
