SSN Conference takes place

The Sustainable Scotland Network (SSN) conference takes place today (5 October) at the COSLA conference centre in Edinburgh.

The conference takes place amidst substantive developments in climate change policy, including:

- a proposed new Climate Change Bill setting more ambitious greenhouse gas emission reduction targets

- the publication of Scotland’s third Climate Change Plan, including emission pathways to 2032, expected 2018 following Parliamentary scrutiny earlier this year

- the draft Energy Strategy which presents a vision for Scotland’s energy future until 2050; and

- a raft of other proposals such as Scotland’s Energy Efficiency Programme, Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategies and Regulation of District Heating.

Delegates from a number of public sector organisations and partners will be able to network with other members and partners and the Scottish Government to discuss and identify where the public sector can support national ambitions, work together to take collaborative action and mobilise strong leadership in the sector to deliver action on climate change and sustainability.

Members of the Climate Challenge Fund team will be delivering a session on Aligning community and public sector action on climate change.

Keep Scotland Beautiful manages the Sustainable Scotland Network and the Climate Challenge Fund on behalf of the Scottish Government.
