Glasgow City Council launch Climate Resilience Innovation Challenge

Glasgow City Council are launching a Climate Resilience Innovation Challenge, in association with the Metropolitan Glasgow Strategic Drainage Partnership, Climate-KIC, and InnovateUK.

The innovation challenge is a way to stimulate private sector solutions to adaptation, and start-up businesses, SMEs, innovation arms of larger businesses, researchers, individual entrepreneurs, students and community groups are all invited to pitch ideas and solutions to tackle Glasgow’s challenge.

Glasgow City Council has defined two areas for the Innovation Challenge:

  1. Innovative flood risk reduction systems and technologies that can be retrofitted to commercial or residential properties and
  2. Innovative ways to engage stakeholders and communities to take-action in addressing Glasgow’s climate resilience and environmental challenges.

The two winning ideas (one for each challenge) will receive awards of up to £20k to further develop their innovative solutions in consultation with Glasgow City Council and MGSDP. The deadline for applications if 01 May. Successful applications will be invited to the Challenge finals in Glasgow on the 7th June 2017, to be held as part of the European Climate Change Adaptation conference. Finalists will pitch their ideas to a technical panel and the conference audience, before a winner will be selected for each panel.
