Be the change you want to see

Communities for Conservation share thoughts on winning energy category at Climate Challenge Fund Awards.

We are delighted to release the first in a series of five short films, to celebrate the winners of the Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) Awards.

The CCF Awards took place at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh on 1 November and celebrated the achievements of CCF projects running from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017.

Communities for Conservation, run by Edinburgh and Lothians Regional Equality Council, won the Energy Category Award. We were pleased to speak with Jean-Matthieu Gaunand and Ewelina Lukaszek of Communities for Conservation who shared their thoughts and an inspiring message to 'be the change you want to see'.

Communities for Conservation engaged with diverse ethnic minority communities in Edinburgh to improve home energy efficiency, helping to reduce fuel bills, fuel poverty and carbon emissions. Project activities included home energy efficiency advice visits and a drop-in centre. Additional workshops and initiatives helped cut carbon emissions from food and travel and raise awareness of climate change.

The Communities for Conservation project was awarded a CCF grant for further work in 2017/18. You can find out more about the support they currently offer through their website and Facebook page.

Watch out for further films featuring the CCF Award winners in the coming weeks. In the meantime you can find out more about all the winners and shortlisted nominees through the CCF Awards webpages.

The CCF is a Scottish Government grants programme, managed and administered by Keep Scotland Beautiful, which provides funding and support for community groups to tackle climate change through community-led projects that reduce carbon emissions.
