Whitfield Community Garden
The garden group came together last year to develop the space at the rear of the building, initially to grow vegetables for the Link Up Lunch Club based at the Whitfield Community Services Complex. The group meets each Monday morning and has developed areas in the garden to grow vegetables and soft fruit. Due to the problem with the stony ground, it has recently built raised beds - mainly from recycled wood. It has also included family activity days where children and parents have planted bulbs and flower seeds. The children also helped create a bug habitat. At the moment the groups’ tulips and daffodils are in full bloom and it has had a number of positive comments from local residents.
