A community led environmental charity working across the Southside of Glasgow.
In Toryglen, the group has transformed previously unused spaces into thriving community gardens, growing herbs, vegetables, fruit and flowers. This has made the area look more attractive, creating well used, safe social places and helps to bring people together.
Malls Mire woods is no longer a neglected site for flytipping, it is now a thriving Local Nature Reserve with an exciting programme of conservation work, therapeutic activities and outdoor adventure play for children.
The group’s volunteers carry out regular litter picks as well as maintaining the gardens and managing the woodland for conservation.
In 2018, Urban Roots was awarded a Certificate of Distinction to further recognise the groups' achievements.
