Friends of Johnston Gardens
Friends of Johnston Gardens is a volunteer group formed three years ago. Johnston Gardens have existed for many years and provide a unique garden space enjoyed by all ages. The Friends undertake various maintenance activities in co-operation with a Community Engagement Officer from Aberdeen City Council. Tasks have included painting fences and the public toilet, clearing autumn leaves and pruning roses. Planting sessions were organised for snowdrops, daffodils and crocuses, and funds were raised for a new alpine garden. The group encourages involvement of the local primary school, and pupils designed interpretation boards with advice on feeding the ducks which inhabit the pond.
