The group of volunteers has been running for approximately fifteen years, planting and maintaining 68 planters (initially seven!), two garden areas (William Gardiner Square and Slessor Gardens), an urban orchard, two 'help yourself' herb patches, a 'children's' garden and wildflower areas wherever possible. The group has an excellent relationship with the Council, Universities, college and support from shops and businesses in the areas the volunteers work. The projects benefit people's well-being and the group encourages those with problems (e.g. addictions, mental health) to actively join it. Yearly the group pots on over 3,000 plug plants in its polytunnel to be used in displays.
In 2018, Bonnie Dundee Group was awarded a Certificate of Distinction to further recognise the groups' achievements.
