South Seeds Allison Street Community Garden
South Seeds collaborated with the local community to transform an abandoned space down a lane off a busy shopping street into a community garden. This garden has become a hub for the young people living locally, in particular Romanian and Slovakian Roma kids. Many of these children are from recently migrated families; working together in the garden builds on their knowledge of growing, but also give them a sense of being part of a Glasgow community. They share the food grown, taking it home to their families where food poverty can be a factor they are having to live with.
