Recovery Garden Project - Alcohol and Drugs Action
The group meets weekly on a Wednesday morning at Hazledene Nurseries and has the use of a poly tunnel and some outside cold frames. The group grows vegetables, and fruit and flowers. All the members are in recovery from either alcohol or drugs misuse at various stages. The group is led by two dedicated volunteers from Alcohol and Drugs Action, a local Aberdeen based charity. The produce grown is divided among the group and any surplus used at a cooking group also run by the charity. The group also cares for a tree and shrub planter in the city centre, which is dedicated to people who have lost their lives through addiction. It also grows and prepares pots of plants for display in the city centre in partnership with Aberdeen Inspired and the council as part of the Growing Smarter, Granite City Aberdeen entry into Beautiful Scotland.
